JS(AC)54a / AF05a Formation of the Army Air Corps AAC PARA cover 1
JS(AC)54a RAF cover dual numbered as AF5 as part of the Airborne Forces series. Cover artwork by Tony Theobald depicts Armstrong Whitworth Whitley aircraft dropping Parachutists and towing Hotspurs gliders. The two inset pictures show Airborne troops on a training excercise in Hotspur Mk2 Glider at Netheravon and a platoon of parachutists from the 1st Air Landing Brigade about to emplane at RAF Ringway.

The cover bears 24p Ordnance Survey stamp cancelled with BFPS 2302 postmark for the 50th Anniversary of the Formation of the Army Air Corps cancelled 21st December 1991. Cover has been flown in Britten Norman Islander ZG994 from Netheravon where the Army Air Corps first operated in December 1941 to Middle Wallop the present Headquarterd of the Army Air Corps.
