Cover produced for the 50th Anniversary of the Battle of Britain. Cover depicts Flight Lieutenant John Cunningham and Sergeant John Philipson of 604 Squadron making the first successful AI interception at East Wittering 20th November 1940. Cover also depicts Westland Lysander of 4 Squadron shot down by a BF109 over the channel during an air rescue sortie 15 November 1940 and Birmingham under attack on 19/20 November 1940. Cover bears 26p defin cancelled with Great Fire of London 50th Anniversary postmark.

Cover has been flown in Islander from the Army Air Corps Centre in Middle Wallop over East Wittering where the first successful AI radar interception was made by Flight Lieutenant Cunningham and Segeant Philipson of 604 Squadron in Beaufighter R2098 on 20th November 1940 when Junkers 88 captained by Unteroffizier Sondermeier fell blazing into the ground at Stocks Lane East Wittering Chichester.
