JS50/40/1 Invasion of Norway signed CROSS DFC

Cover produced for the 50th Anniversary of the Invasion of Norway. Cover depicts the first Battle of Narvik 10th April 1940, the second Battle of Narvik 13 April 1940 and German airborne forces taking Stavanger airfield on 9th April 1940. Cover bears 2 Norwegian stamps cancelled with Narvik postmark 28th May 1990.

Cover has been flown in Nimrod of 201 Squadron from RAF Kinloss to Jan Mayen, Spitzbergen, Bear Island Narvik and over the waters through which the Allied evacuation of Norway took place; where HMS Glorious was lost on 8th June 1940 and where crews of 201 Squadron maintained escort patrols throughout the Norwegian campaign.
