JS(AC)60a / AF24a 10th Anniversary of the Falkland Islands Campaign cover

JS(AC)60a RAF cover dual numbered AF24 as part of the Airborne Forces mini-series produced in association with the Airborne Forces Museum. The cover commemorates Operation Corporate - the Falkland Islands Campaign April to June 1982 with cover artwork by tony Theobald showing Lt Col Herbert Jones VC OBE and Sgt Ian McKay VC both of whom served with 2 PARA and won their Victoria Cross during the Falklands Conflict. Underneath members of the PARAs are shwon arriving in Standley on the 14 June 1982.

The cover bears 14p +6p Falkland Islands San Carlos Cemetery stamp cancelled on first day of issue with Harrier postmark 14 June 1992. The cover has been flown in Tristar ZE 705 of No 216 Squadron from RAF Brize Norton to the Falklands Islands via Ascension Island carrying a party of VIPs to the 10th anniversary of the Liberation of the Falkland Islands celebrations.
