JS(CC)50b RAF 80th Anniversary - Air Transport / Tanker signed OC RAF Brize Norton

AIR TRANSPORT / TANKER
The cover shows the mainstays of the RAF's present strategic air transport and tanker roles; namely the wide-bodied Lockheed L-1011 Tristar of 216 Squadron and the VC10K tanker of 101 Squadron. The 2 aircraft are depicted refuelling fast-jet aircraft; in particular the presence of the Eurofighter is worthy of note, despite it not yet being in squadron service. The covers were flown in a VC10C1K of 10 Squadron to include all flying units based at RAF Brize Norton.
