JS50/41/02 Cape Matapan cover signed FAA DSC pilot & RN MID

JS50 Cover produced for the 50th Anniversary of the Battle of Cape Matapan. Cover depicts Fairey Albacores from HMS Formidable who torpedoed the Italian fleet during the action. The Vittorio Venito which was the Italian Flagship at the time of the attack, HMS Gloucester, Orion, Ajax and Perth laying smoke screens and HMS Warspite and Valiant's 15in guns destroying the Fiume at 22.29hrs. Cover also bears HMS Orion's crest. Cover bears 26p Welsh Defin cancelled with BFPS 2262 for the 50th Anniversary of Cape Matapan.
